Hi! I’m David, founder of America Hikes and lifelong adventurer based in Los Angeles. I started this blog to write more about my adventures than what people typically want to read in a caption on Instagram. Contrary to the website name, I sometimes post trips I’ve done outside the United States, but I’ve always believed that there is so much natural beauty hidden away in this country that people don’t realize is there. I’ve done several of the classic American multi-day treks (Lost Coast Trail in California, Art Loeb Trail in North Carolina), but my favorite hikes are the high summits of the Eastern Sierra in California. Whitney, Williamson, Langley, Split — there’s something magical about that high-altitude landscape. The crisp mountain air, the endless granite expanses, the sense of glory of reaching a summit that only a fraction of the population will ever witness.
